Another Reason to Get Enough Omega-3

If you’re not sure you’re getting enough Omega-3, here’s another reason to look into it. As we age, we experience a loss in skeletal muscle mass, called “sarcopenia.” According to an abstract on the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition website, recent  research shows that  Omega-3 fatty acids stimulate muscle protein synthesis in older adults and may be useful for preventing and treating sarcopenia. Reduced muscle strength in the elderly is a major cause of increased disability, like difficulty walking.
